About Samantha

Samantha Salamon is a lifelong Northfield Center resident, a celebrated victims’ rights attorney, and a proud mom. Growing up in a single-parent household, after watching her father suffer a fatal heart attack, Samantha was instilled with the values of hard work, determination, and empathy.

Samantha attended Cleveland State University on a soccer scholarship and graduated summa cum laude in social work and Middle Eastern studies in 2012. She continued her education at Cleveland State to receive her Juris Doctor in 2015.

Upon passing the bar exam, Samantha moved to Dubai to work as a real estate and corporate attorney. This new journey allowed her to work with clients from around the world while juggling the challenges of moving to a new country.

Samantha moved back to where her heart really belonged, Ohio, in 2017. She opened her own law firm, where she worked as a criminal defense attorney. While serving as a criminal defense appointed attorney, Samantha began volunteering at Asian Services in Action, Inc. (ASIA) as an immigration attorney. Soon after, Samantha joined ASIA full-time and developed a holistic legal program to give a voice to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Now as ASIA’s Chief Counsel, Samantha has expanded her work with victims to work alongside the Ohio Attorney General's Human Trafficking Commission, the Governor's Human Trafficking Task Force, and multiple other agencies as an expert in various forms of victimization.

Samantha also serves on the Northfield Center Township Zoning Commission, the Nordonia School District Financial Activities Communication Team, the Executive Board of Family Promise - Summit County, the Chair of the Summit County Collaborative Against Human Trafficking, and as the Founder and Chair of the Ohio Victim Services Bar Association.

Samantha's Priorities

Protecting Basic Human Rights

Samantha has dedicated her career to maintaining and advocating for the constitutional rights of every individual, with a particular focus on protecting victims. From domestic violence to human trafficking, protecting victims' rights throughout their healing process is not only important but essential to maintaining an individual's dignity. Samantha believes that everyone should be treated justly, with fairness, and, most importantly, with respect. These principles will be utilized at the State House to advocate for legislation that continues to protect our constituents' rights.

Children Come First

From keeping children safe in their home to setting them up for success with exceptional public schools, children are a top priority for Samantha. Samantha has represented multiple children, most of whom are victims of sexual assault and/or domestic violence, and she has learned the importance of meeting children where they are and fighting for what they deserve. Children are the future of this country, and providing them all the resources necessary is a priority Samantha doesn't take lightly.

Fiscal Responsibility

Samantha believes government must be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. Families across District 35 work hard for their income, and they deserve to know their tax dollars are being spent wisely, transparently, and with accountability. Samantha supports practical budgeting that prioritizes essential services, strengthens communities, and ensures public funds are used efficiently to benefit the people they are meant to serve.

Strong Public Schools

All children deserve access to strong public schools that provide safe learning environments, dedicated teachers, and the resources necessary for every student to succeed. Supporting quality education, investing in classrooms, and ensuring schools are equipped to prepare students for the future helps strengthen families and communities. Samantha will continue working to support educators, students, and parents while ensuring District 35 remains a place where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Affordable & Livable Communities

All Ohioans deserve to live in communities that support small businesses, working families, and the well-being of their residents. When local businesses grow and succeed, they create jobs, strengthen neighborhoods, and help keep our local economy thriving. At the same time, families should be able to live in safe, welcoming communities with access to clean environments, well-maintained green spaces, and metroparks, and a cost of living that remains reasonable while addressing the rise in property taxes. Samantha will continue working to support policies that strengthen local economies and ensure District 35 remains a strong, affordable place for families and businesses to call home.
